Job description:


The Local Adaptation to Climate Change (LACC) Project supports land use planning and management, integrated water and forest resources management, environmental conservation, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces. Communications Officer plays a crucial role in providing overall support to the LACC Project Communications, Visibility and Knowledge Management activities as outlined in LACC Project Communication and Visibility Strategy and Action Plan.

 

Under the management of the Supervisor, the Communication Officer ensures the regular updating and maintenance of LACC Project communication channels, coordinates media relations and provides communications-related guidance for Project staff and partners. The Communications Officer takes part in the design and production of visibility materials, manages LACC Project OneDrive and participates in the planning of different communication, visibility and knowledge management activities while delivering LACC Project’s communications and general objectives. LACC Project uses various platforms and tools to ensure reaching both local, national and international audiences. The Project has recently initiated its social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn and its own website https://www.laccp.org.np/.

 

This position offers a great opportunity for young professional to contribute to the establishment of communications processes and gain more experience in developing and implementing communications and visibility activities within an international development project while contributing to climate resilience efforts in Nepal.

Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences or other relevant field

Languages: Excellent skills in written and spoken Nepali and English

 

Experience and skills


  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in communications, public relations and/or other related fields

  • Experience in social media management, using digital communication tools and creating different types of content for various platforms

  • Experience in editing and designing visibility and branding materials is an asset

  • Experience in collaboration with traditional media is an asset

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent coordination, collaboration, organizational and time management skills

  • Creative mindset and great attention to detail

  • Strong IT skills and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)

  • Experience working in a Finnish or EU-funded Project or with other international donors is an asset

 

Key duties:


  • Implement the Communication and Visibility Strategy and Action Plan of the LACC Project

  • Develop LACC Project communications, visibility and knowledge management activities and plans in collaboration with and under the management of the Supervisor

  • Ensure adherence to the donor and organizational visibility and brand guidelines by reviewing communications and visibility materials and providing guidance to other team members

  • Manage, develop and maintain LACC Project’s social media presence, including planning different types of content (visual, audiovisual, text) and updating Project Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages on a regular basis

  • Support in the maintenance, regular updating and content creation of the Project website

  • Coordinate with LACC Project staff across provinces and external partners to gather content for communication materials and manage the editing of the materials

  • Guide field staff and partners on communications and visibility related matters as agreed with the Supervisor

  • Design visibility and branding materials as per the Communications and Visibility Strategy and Action Plan and/or coordinate the work with external service providers

  • Establish and coordinate relations and content production with relevant media, including radio, print media, tv and other production centers

  • Maintain and keep the digital files and LACC Project OneDrive well organized

  • Respond to inquiries and requests related to communication and visibility

  • Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor and LACC Project management
